This is one that qualifies for the "picture does it no justice" award. The special metallic threads that are used for the embellishments
create a beautiful sparkle and a camera just can't capture that sparkle.
The red and the gold metallic threads are easily found where DMC embroidery threads are sold.
The finished size of this beauty is 15" round. The picture shows it made with 100% wool and it looks especially nice if a mottled red is used for the ornaments.
Although I recommend using 100% wool, some or all of the wool requirements may be substituted with wool felt to save on expense.
Basic embroidery stitches are used for this: Blanket stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, french knots and back stitch.
